Kate Hudson is the epitome of booked and busy, but the mom of three shared how she’s able to balance it all.
In an interview with “Women’s Health” magazine, the 40-year-old actress shared that when she’s home with the kids, she’s fully present and isn’t connected to work.
“If I come in nine-to-five, do all my work and shut off my phone, I can have a balanced life,” she said. “I try not to let work spill into time with the kids, dinnertime and in bed.”
While she seemingly has it all together all the time, Hudson said it wasn’t always easy finding that balance, especially right after giving birth to her youngest, Rani Rose, 1.
Shortly after welcoming her daughter into the world, Hudson took to Instagram to share that she was embarking on a fitness journey and her goal was to lose 25 pounds.
“I’d like to try new workouts and eat as healthy as I can,” she captioned a photo of herself in workout attire. “I wanna do all this and keep up milk production, raise my kids, work everyday, make time for my man, have girlfriend time and stay sane!”
She told “Women’s Health” that things didn’t go as planned and her weight-loss journey was tougher and longer than with her first two children.
“Unlike with the other two, I didn’t really have time to work out,” she said. “It took a different kind of discipline.” For her, that was focusing on a stricter diet.

On her 40th birthday in April, Hudson shared a photo with all three of her children (it appears to be the first image the actress has shared of all three of her children at once on social media) and captioned the photo, “My wishes came true.”
Thought it all seems picture-perfect, Hudson admitted to “Women’s Health” that it isn’t.
“I make mistakes all the time,” she told the magazine. “I’ve yelled at my kids too much, and I’ve also cursed in front of them, and I also haven’t shown up for things because I was out of town. But at the same time, I have days where I’m like, ‘I’m a (expletive) supermom.’ I am cooking, cleaning, doing homework, changing diapers, I worked out. What I’ve learned – and what I’m learning – is that I’m doing the best I can.”
