QUINCY (WGEM) — A Quincy teen accused of shooting and killing 18-year-old Darrell E. Kelley Jr. of Quincy appeared in court for a preliminary hearing Tuesday morning.
The defense filed a motion at a status hearing Tuesday morning to schedule a fitness test for 16-year-old Roger L. Parker, Jr.
The judge granted permission to order the test to see if the teen could stand trial. Adams County Assistant State’s Attorney Josh Jones asked that the test be conducted within the next 30 days.
There will be a conference call on December 5 at 9 a.m. for a status on which group would administer the test.
Parker is facing three felony counts of 1st-degree murder with a minimum of 45 years in prison.
Police said Parker, Jr. shot Kelley Jr. multiple times just before 5 p.m. on September 26.
The Kelly family was in court in the morning and wore new blue shirts with the words “Justice for DJ” over a picture of him.
The next court date for Parker has been set for December 17 at 11:30 a.m.
