Dell Children’s Medical Center doubles size of pediatric sleep program

Dell Children’s Medical Center in North Central Austin has expanded its sleep lab program, according to a July 7 news release.

The newly expanded, 6-bed sleep lab at Dell Children’s now has the ability to offer diagnostic sleep studies and therapeutic studies for children with potential sleeping disorders. Dell Children’s, located at 4900 Mueller Blvd., Austin, also offers therapies for insomnia and sleep apnea.

A pediatric sleep psychologist will be staffed at the Dell Children’s Sleep Program, which opened June 29, according to the news release. Other health care professionals staffed at the sleep lab include pediatric sleep physician, pediatric sleep technicians, a respiratory therapist, social workers and nursing staff, according to Dell Children’s.

Dell Children’s sleep lab first opened in 2007 with three beds, according to Kathy Hadlock, public relations specialist with Ascension Texas.

As previously reported by Community Impact Newspaper, the upcoming Dell Children’s Medical Center campus in Northwest Austin will also include a facility for pediatric sleep therapy.
