FitFam has opened at 5700 Sixth Ave. in downtown Kenosha.

According to owner Alyssa Fox, FitFam promotes physical and mental health of parents through fitness.

“We do this by offering small group workout classes that you can do with your children, prenatal up to 13 years old,” she said.

“Our goals are fostering friendships between parents and children and letting parents bond and spend time with their children, all while exercising in a fun environment”

FitFam also promotes other events to promote family bonding, including monthly Moms’ Night Out, family activities and family arts-and-craft events.

“We know having children can be hard on the wallet, especially if you have more than one,” Fox said, noting that FitFam offers different pricing options “to help families as much as possible.”

Fox said she started FitFam after struggling with postpartum anxiety. She found that exercise and getting out of the house helped ease her anxiety.

However, she said it was difficult to find a place where she would exercise while her son was nearby. She also wanted a connection with other parents.

Through social media, she found other parents in the same boat and decided to offer a place where parents could exercise with their children.

“After doing classes outside during the summer, I knew with winter approaching it was time to make it official,” she said “Now the studio … is a place parents can workout with their children and enjoy family activities throughout the month.”
