A local organization will be building beds for Delaware County kids this Saturday morning – and you’re welcome to help.

The project is called “Sleep in Heavenly Peace”. It’s a nationwide movement to provide local kids who have been sleeping on the floor with their own bed, along with new blankets and pillows. Keith Kramer started a chapter in Delaware County earlier this year before COVID-19 hit – and in just two months, they’ve been able to help build beds for dozens of kids, most of them right here in Manchester.

Kramer says they’re hoping to build twenty more beds on Saturday. Volunteers will be gathering behind F&M Bank in Manchester starting at 8 am and working until noon. He says they welcome anyone who would like to help.

Many local residents have been generous with donations of bedding, pillows and even handmade quilts.

If you would like to make a monetary donation to Sleep in Heavenly Peace’s Delaware County chapter, go to their website at https://www.shpbeds.org/chapter/ia-delaware-co. Kramer says being involved in this project – helping to make a difference in kids’ lives right here in Delaware County – has been a moving experience.

Once again, Saturday’s Build Beds Day begins at 8 am at F&M Bank in downtown Manchester and will run until about noon, with all volunteers welcome.
