The Nueces County Keach Family Library is hosting a weekly Rainbow Vegetable Garden program for children of all ages.
The rainbow garden is sponsored by the Driscoll Children’s WIC Program and meets every Monday and Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. The program is designed to teach children how to plant and care for vegetables and grow a garden.
“This program is perfect for young students including home-schooled children to learn and inspire healthy eating habits,” said Rosa Carrillo who manages the program. “We are paving the way for more rainbow gardening programs in Texas. Our garden is leading the way for the state.”
Education, vegetable seeds and plants are available for participants to plant home gardens to encourage young ones to eat a variety of vegetables like colors of the rainbow.
